"MBR has given me my life back. I heard about MBR with Monnica Marwick via a YouTube video that was sent to me from a friend. I was very interested in what seemed like a very scientific based therapy, using the principles of neuro-plasticity to help the brain recover and no longer send the symptoms of chronic illness to the body. Initially some things from the sessions I found confronting, such as learning to let go of my dearly held "pacing" as a way of managing Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. However, with Monnica's training and support and availability for trouble shooting I have made rapid progress with my recovery since starting MBR. I would recommend MBR to anyone suffering a chronic illness, including those who have found some relief symptom relief through medication or other therapies such as physical therapy. MBR can work well alongside these other therapies and can increase your recovery speed. For me, I was using Low Dose Naltrexone and was just increasing my dose as I started MBR. However, I was extremely concerned about "over doing it" and "pacing", and so I don't think I would have progressed nearly as quickly or to such a high level of symptom relief without MBR. I would have trialled things very slowly, and I might still be having my nap (several hours long) every day! However, with MBR I rapidly learned how to listen to my body and seek out activities and situations that would be positive and provide a feeling of safety, enjoyment and security for my body. I was amazed at how much energy my body was able to produce when I was listening carefully to its needs. I started to drop my nap, and to engage in activities that I would normally avoid for fear of Post Exertional Malaise. This resulted in a positive spiral effect in that the more I listened to my body and engaged in positive activities, the more energy I had to continue to do this. I started doing the food shopping (very exciting when you have not been able to do this for two years); I started walking without fear, I started driving more and I started to do more fun things with my children such as going to the zoo. Now, at least six months post starting MBR, I live (what feels to me) a normal life. I drive my children around and I can care for our toddler so my husband can return to work. I walk and swim. I enjoy mowing the lawn. I get tired, as people normally do, but this is not the crippling fatigue that I battled for 2 1/2 years. I even used what I learned in MBR to help me in my rehabilitation from gall bladder surgery! If you are even remotely thinking about MBR, you should definitely give it a go. You won't regret learning these helpful techniques and approaches, both for your health now and in the future."
Many thanks Monn! I have my life back!
